WeAreWillow - Berlin is a collaborative portrait of the city through photography and music. Over four years from 2012 to 2016 artist and musician Chris Butler and photographer Will Grundy travelled regularly between the UK and the vibrant German city. Their encounters and the new relationships they formed there inspired a 9 track album featuring a range of Manchester musicians and a 150 page book of photography including song lyrics and two essays responding to the work.

The project exhibited at The Whitworth Art Gallery Manchester from the 18th of February to the 3rd of June 2016 after launching to a sell out crowd in the Grand Hall of the gallery. Presenting themes of isoloation, voyeurism, escape and disorientation, We Are Willow selected works from the gallery's collection that both evoked the experiences of Berlin and corresponded with the music and photography created there.
